I’d like to tell you a little about me – Like many other knitters I’ve been knitting nearly all my life. My mother, who was an expert knitter, my grandmother and great-grandmother were my needlework teachers although I don’t remember the actual learning to knit. My earliest knitting memory is of one sister & I sitting on a bed in a great-aunt’s home, knitting garter stitch slippers. Our great-aunt had found some wool & needles and a project to keep us out of trouble. I don’t know what we did with the slippers, it was long ago.

I kept knitting through all these years, for family and friends, creating designs along the way. Encouraged to put my ideas into pattern form - Desert Rose Designs was born. For a couple of years I self published patterns which are the foundation of my line. I kept knitting for family and friends and coming up with new ideas. So many ideas that fate seemed to be telling me to get busy and really do something with my designs – so here I am now with more patterns in development, a web site where my patterns can be purchased and a blog!

My designs are created for the knitter wanting a unique, well-fitting and beautiful garment. I believe the process is as important as the product, a satisfying knitting experience is key for the project to result in a classic garment you (or your recipient) will enjoy wearing for years to come.

Inspiration comes from all around me. Living in the beautiful Front Range area of Colorado, nature plays a particular role. Translating colors and shapes and seasons into knitting designs is a challenge I truly enjoy.

In 2009 I am happy to announce I will have a design published in a book to be released by DRG Publications (House of White Birches) in August. Then next February I will have three more designs published in another DRG book. Look for more down the road.

My life outside of knitting is spending time with my husband, our four Italian Greyhounds, one Australian Cattle dog and one cat. I also have a day job in commercial real estate property management and keep the books for my husband’s HVAC company. We have one grown son and are looking forward to grandchildren someday.
